the Woods Point Cup held on Melbourne Cup weekend
Additional info: Iconic bar for that refreshing
drink after the dusty drive into town. Offering country
style meals, take away alcohol and ice. Home of the
renowned Tear Arse Gully Port, which has an increasingly
strong following.

the Town: Woods Point is a town that people keep
coming back to. 55km South from Jamieson along a windy
dirt road brings you into this charming valley. This
town appears to be just a hotel and a small number of
homes. Opposite the general store is a rickety hut which
could be Australia ’s smallest servo. After the 1939
Black Friday bush fires the town was rebuilt to what
you see today. The population of around 40. The town
offers this country hotel, fuel (for trail bikes), 2
camping reserves, pictorial museum, bushwalking tracks,
fishing, 4WD tracks alot of fun for trail bikes and
4WD’s. Hunting is popular along with gold fossicking
and plenty of snow in winter. Check your fuel before
heading up this way. Dirt roads from all directions.
